Orlando, my political biography

Come appreciate the surreal satire of Orlando—an ageless royal who spans genders across literal centuries, causing quite the uproar in proper society! Orlando, My Political Biography is a 2023 French documentary spinning off from Virginia Woolf’s seminal 1928 novel. Director Paul B. Preciado’s modern adaptation casts 26 contemporary trans and non-binary people, aged 8 to 70, to all play Orlando across 98 minutes. Sometimes simultaneously, as an early musical highlight features a mob of Orlandos all supporting one another against medical gatekeepers. Join us for this hilarious and very queer cinema! Whether interested in the timeless satire, modern pioneers of gender expression, or Woolf’s fictional biography written about her sapphic lover, stick around after the movie. We’ll learn about and discuss its rich interpretations together!
