Moira presents an evening of adventurous sound worlds with a special double bill. From New York, synthesist and composer-improviser Matthew Ryals brings his experimental solo set, praised for its “truly unforgettable” exploration of electronic sound. Sharing the stage is the Amsterdam-based duo LASALTAS (alto flute, viola and live electronics), known for their intuitive sonic meditations on space and intimacy. Together, these artists offer a unique meeting point between electronic innovation and intimate acoustic resonance, from synth textures to evolving soundscapes of flute, viola, and live electronics. A rare chance to experience Ryals during his European tour alongside the up and coming duo LASALTAS, in the intimate setting of Moira, Utrecht.

LASALTAS duo – BIO

The Amsterdam-based duo LASALTAS crafts intuitive sonic meditations on space and intimacy, where melodic interplay and digital sound processing shape a post-classical, cinematic soundworld. Using viola, alto flute, live electronics, and field recordings, they create immersive, evolving soundscapes that emerge from the interaction between acoustic purity and digital transformation, using space as an expressive medium. Their latest project took place in Romantso, Athens , thanks to a movility grant from the European Union and the Goethe-Institute. They created “The Reveries” — a 40 minute full set — where they explored the Introspective state of reverie: a drifting between daydream and presence, suspended time and emotional depth. Layers of subtle noise, distortion, and spatialized textures accumulate and dissolve, with generative visuals mirroring the music’s emotional and temporal flow. Apart from Romantso, LASALTAS performs regularly throughout the Netherlands. They will be performing in May 2026 at An Evening of Today with a new work commissioned by Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, as well as at the Ambient Music Conference 2026 in Copenhagen in September.
