On Saturday 18th May the alternative grooving pop band Gunnamatta presents its new EP What’s Left? On this special occasion Gunnamatta curates a theatrical night on which atmospheric, compelling songs and engaging, exciting uptempo tunes alternate. Every song is carefully build layer by layer, the intertwinement of each part, each layer represents the lyrical thematics about the intertwinement of all the big and small questions of our time, whether they’d be more personal or more societal.
On this evening Gunnamatta tells a musical story centered around the question: how do we decide what to do with the time that is given to us? It is a question that weighs heavy on so many of us as parts of an ever more rapidly changing society in which even the most progressive minds are struggling to find their footing. The band is supported by guestmusicians, light and stagedesign to help tell this story.
The support act is the Utrecht based vocal group Studio Voices. Studio Voices arranges a capella songs intimately and will be a fitting prologue for the rest of the night.

Op zaterdagavond 18 mei presenteert de groovende alternatieve popband Gunnamatta haar nieuwste EP What’s Left? Op een theatrale en sfeervolle avond wisselen innemende luistermuziek en ritmisch opzwepende dansplaten elkaar af. De songs zijn altijd zorgvuldig, laag voor laag opgebouwd en gaan over de grote en kleine vragen van onze tijd. De verbondenheid van elke laag, elk onderdeeld van de muziek representeert de verbondenheid van al die vragen, of ze nu persoonlijk of maatschappelijk gemotiveerd zijn. Zo zet de muziek van Gunnamatta aan tot bewegen en denken.
Op de release show wordt het publiek meegenomen in een doorlopend muzikaal verhaal, waarin elk nummer een eigen rol en enscenering heeft. Hoe besluit je om te gaan met de tijd die je gegeven is als die tijd gekenmerkt wordt door veranderlijkheid in een leefwereld die geplet wordt tussen een vooruit denderende technologie en een planeet die juist tot bezinning maant? Om de nummers en het verhaal kracht bij te zetten wordt gebruik gemaakt van verschillende gastmuzikanten, uitgebreide arrangementen, licht, enscenering en regie.
Het voorprogramma wordt verzorgd door de Utrechtse vocal group Studio Voices. Zij arrangeren hun intieme a capella nummers grotendeels zelf en leiden daarmee de avond in.
